NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – In early September, a long awaited change was made to one the sports complexes on campus. If you haven’t seen already, brand new tennis courts have replaced the red and green tennis courts in the complex near Campus Safety.
Purple and grey are the new colors on the tennis court that not only resembles the Purple Eagles logo, but adds a sense grandeur to what was previously a sore spot on campus.
The Women’s Tennis team christened the new courts with a 6-1 win over Rider University on Sept. 21. They’ve started out their season 2-2, and leads the MAAC. Freshman Erika Gonzalez leads the team with seven match wins. She has consolation titles in both singles and doubles from the 2019 Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational under her belt.
Much like the Women’s Tennis team, the Men’s Tennis team started off their season by beating Rider University – they won 5-2. The team is 2-0. Pere Padro has started off his season undefeated in five individual matches.
