NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. -Last semester it was announced that students will soon be gaining more options of where to use their off-campus funds. The program, launched through student affairs, will allow students to purchase items and food at off-campus vendors, using their student I.D. like a debit card.
Jason Jakubowski, Dean of Students, contacted numerous popular venders on Military Rd. – such as Mighty Taco, Fuji Grill, Eat Rite Foods and Anchor Bar – who officially agreed to being involved in this program. As a part of the program, the vendors will receive a table during move-in day, a student-authored profile in the Niagara Wire, an advertisement on the Niagara University website and a poster placed in residence halls. Along with this agreement to allow off-campus funds, students will not be allowed to purchase alcohol with their student I.D.
Soon after students return from spring break in March, the program should be officially open for students to successfully use their student I.D. Additionally, Jakubowski plans on expanding this program to the town of Lewiston for students to use their student I.D. at popular coffee shops and restaurants. This relationship between Niagara University and off-campus vendors will provide NU students with the convenience of using their student I.D. on and off-campus.
