Darien Lake open for the summer

DARIEN, N.Y.- On May 6, Darien Lake opened its gates for its 54th season in operation, and the park has plenty to celebrate over the course of the summer.
In late June, the Viper, the first steel coaster in the world with five inversions, will be the center of a celebration as the coaster celebrates its 35th anniversary. In a recent interview with WIVB, Darien Lake General Manager Chris Thorpe talked about the attraction and its legacy to the park.
“Many of our guests throughout the years have pinpointed the first time they were tall enough to ride the Viper as one of their fondest memories,” said Thorpe. “Thirty-five years alter, it’s a wonderful thing to see those guests bring their children and grandchildren here to recreate that special moment.”
The Darien Lake Amphitheater is also celebrating an anniversary this year as the venue celebrates 25 years in operation. To celebrate, Live Nation kick off the season by dropping prices for select concerts down to just $20. Some of the larger concerts with price reductions include Zac Brown Band (June 25) and OneRepublic (July 25). All tickets also include free same-day admission to the park as well.
“By inviting all our concert guests to join us in the theme park before the show, there’s a truly unique opportunity for fun,” said Thorpe. “Where else can you ride the coasters all day and rock out all night with the greatest stars in the music industry?”
