Golf returns from MAACs, ends on high note for captains

LAKE BUENA VISTA, F.L. – After a busy semester, the Niagara University golf teams finally wrapped their seasons up at the MAAC Championships this past weekend. Niagara’s women finished in seventh while the men finished in ninth place, last in the tournament.

Junior Emily Doyle led women’s team with a three-day total of 30-over finishing in 17th place. One of the highlights of the tournament was Selena Cerra’s 35-foot putt to cap off the tournament and the senior’s career (via @NUWomensGolf).

Junior Christian Nizamis led the men carding a three-day total of +15 finishing in 15th place. Former men’s club-golfer Ben Conroy worked his way up the ranks to finish +17 to finish in 19th place.

An off-base first round put senior captain Danny Wiemer behind the eight ball as he carded an 84 in the first round. In the second and third rounds, Wiemer shot 77 and 74, respectively, moving up a total of eight spots in the tournament; the most of anyone on his team (and it wasn’t even close).
