Golf struggles over the weekend

Weimer and Cerra lead respective teams in a tough weekend

The Purple Eagles golf teams struggled over the weekend, as the men’s team finished in 18th place and the women’s in eighth.

Daniel Weimer led the men, carding a 158 (+14), tying him for 51st place in the Lafayette Invitational at Silver Creek Country Club.

Selena Cerra led the women in the Seahawk Invitational at Quail Valley golf course, carding a 162 (+18), putting her in a tie for 24th place.

Men’s teammates Christian Nizamis and Nicco Gentile shot 162 (+18) and 163 (+19), finishing in ties for 81st place and 84th place, respectively. Eric Maclean and Wilson Lockwood also shot 169 (+25) and 171 (+27), respectively, for the weekend.

For the women, Daniela Hopper carded a two-day total 172 (+28) in a tie for 41st place, while Marissa Dal Monaco finished tied for 43rd, carding a two-day total of 174 (+30). Emily Doyle and Sarah Godfrey tied for 45th place, both carding 177 (+33).

For the women, their next tournament is the Navy Invitational, April 8-9. The men’s next tournament will be the Robert Morris University Colonial Classic, April 9-11.
