NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Despite posting one of their best offensive performances of the season, Niagara lacrosse fell to the Fairfield University Stags, 14-10. Alexis Morales (3G+ 1A) and Grace Hunt (1G+3A) each recorded four points for Niagara. Head Coach Wendy Stone attributed the narrow defeat to unintelligent play.
“(We) made too many mental mistakes that Fairfield capitalized on,” she said. “The effort was there, we just need to finish plays.”
Goalkeeper Andrea Francisco made a number of key saves for the Purple Eagles, finishing with 11 on the game, tying her season high. Rachel MacCheyne turned in another multi-goal effort with two tallies.
Niagara travels to Michigan on Tuesday to take on the University of Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor. They return home on Saturday to face Manhattan.
