NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Niagara University Career Services hosted the annual Career Expo on Mar. 30, 2017 at the Gallagher Center.
Nearly 100 companies were at the event looking for eager new employees. Students had the ability to apply for jobs and internships in a variety of fields. Jobs in everything from law enforcement and nursing to casino sales were readily available for students.
The line to enter the stretched far out the door as potential employees eagerly awaited a chance to find their careers. Giveaways were prevalent, with many students receiving bags from Niagara University’s Graduate Studies program, which held an open house later that day. Other students received Career Expo t-shirts.
Popular booths included the Praxair company, where students flocked to try on hard hats and safety goggles. The Seneca Niagara Casino table was also a hot spot, giving away dice and poker chips in addition to the standard branded pens. For the budding journalist, Spectrum News was a must. The internship sign-up sheet for the former TWC News station was filled within 30 minutes of the start of the expo. Niagara University had their own Linkedin photo booth to improve students professional web presence.
The Career Expo was only one of Niagara University’s series of networking events, which included the Public Relation Student Society of Niagara and The Niagara Wire’s “Meet the Professionals” night on April 6.
