Canisius College and Niagara University will meet for the final time this season tonight at Dwyer Arena. The Golden Griffins defeated the Purple Eagles on Wednesday night at HarborCenter, 4-2. The game was the 20th anniversary of the two teams’ rivalry.
The Golden Griffins are the hottest team in college hockey. Riding a 13-game unbeaten streak that is currently the longest in the nation, Canisius is 17-10-7 on the season and an overwhelming favorite for the MAAC championship. Goalie Charles Williams has been the story of the year for the Griffs. Leading all of college hockey with a .946 Sv%, Williams has been named a finalist for the Hobey Baker award and has been the backbone of his team.

The injury bug bit the team once again when Christian Cakebread and Noah Delmas were forced to leave with undisclosed injuries. Losing players to the IR has been a big issue for Niagara this season and has contributed to their inconsistent play.
The Purple Eagles will be looking to snap Canisius’ unbeaten streak and get their first win against their rivals this season. Faceoff is at 7:00 PM at Dwyer Arena.
